Parliament's April 29 approval of an SDS-proposed Government Act slashing ministries from 19 to 14, passing with 49 votes, underscores Janez Janša's right-wing bloc—SDS (28 seats), NSi-led allies (9), Democrats (6), and likely Resni.ca (5)—commanding the 46-seat absolute majority in Slovenia's 90-seat National Assembly. Following the March 22 hung parliament election where Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured 29 seats but failed coalition talks and conceded on April 20, President Nataša Pirc Musar declined to nominate a prime minister-designate on April 25, tasking lawmakers with the decision by early May. Trader consensus reflects near-certainty on Janša via coalition negotiations, though breakdowns, alternative pacts, or procedural failures could trigger snap elections.
