Following Slovenia's closely contested parliamentary elections on March 22, where Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured 29 seats to Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party's 28 in the 90-seat National Assembly, Golob failed to build a coalition for the required 46-seat absolute majority and conceded on April 20. President Nataša Pirc Musar declined to name a prime minister-designate on April 25, urging parliament to nominate a candidate within 14 days capable of securing 46 votes. Trader consensus at 91.3% for Janša reflects his party's behind-the-scenes coalition progress, evidenced by parliament's April 29 passage of his SDS-proposed Government Act with 49 favorable votes, signaling sufficient support. Challenges could arise from collapsing negotiations, triggering a relative majority vote or snap elections.
