Following Slovenia's closely contested March 22 parliamentary elections, where Robert Golob's liberal Freedom Movement secured 29 seats in the 90-seat National Assembly against Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party's 28, Golob admitted on April 20 his inability to form a coalition government requiring an absolute majority of 46 votes. This pivotal concession shifted trader consensus decisively toward Janša, a three-time former prime minister now positioned to lead right-wing coalition negotiations with parties like New Slovenia. President Nataša Pirc Musar urged parliament on April 25 to nominate a viable candidate within 14 days, amplifying expectations of Janša's success. At 91.3% implied probability, markets reflect his strong momentum amid stalled talks, though failure to coalesce could trigger a relative majority vote, snap election, or alternative leadership like Anže Logar emerging.
