Trader consensus favors Democrats at 57% in Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District House race, reflecting a competitive toss-up where Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti challenges incumbent Republican Rep. Rob Bresnahan. The Cook Political Report shifted the contest from Lean Republican to Toss-up on April 7, citing Bresnahan's controversial stock trades—which contradict his prior campaign pledges—as a key vulnerability exploited by Democrats. Cognetti outraised the incumbent in first-quarter 2026 fundraising reports, bolstering her position in this Republican-trending district anchored in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. With primaries on May 19 likely confirming unopposed nominees, the general election on November 3 remains pivotal amid Republicans' slim 218-214 House majority, as national midterm dynamics and local turnout could tip the balance.
