This market will resolve to “Yes” if Miguel Díaz-Canel ceases to be President of Cuba for any period of time between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Miguel Díaz-Canel's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. If the specified individual is detained, effectively removed from the specified position, or otherwise permanently prevented from fulfilling the duties of the specified position within this market’s timeframe, it will qualify for a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Miguel Díaz-Canel and the government of Cuba; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Miguel Díaz-Canel remains Cuba’s president and Communist Party first secretary under a second constitutional term extending to 2028, with no scheduled National Assembly sessions, party congresses, or formal succession processes before late June 2026. External pressure from the Trump administration—including sanctions, an oil blockade, and reported demands during bilateral talks for his removal—has intensified amid fuel shortages and power outages, yet Cuban officials have categorically rejected any leadership change as a negotiation item. Díaz-Canel has publicly dismissed resignation prospects, framing talks as early-stage efforts to address differences while preserving sovereignty. Recent June 2026 announcements of economic reforms granting greater enterprise autonomy and private-sector scope reflect attempts to stabilize the situation without altering the top leadership. The regime’s institutional design and absence of visible internal challenges continue to anchor trader assessments of continuity through the resolution window.
