Recent gray-zone tactics persist, including April espionage targeting Taiwanese military personnel, justified PLA activities around the island, and drills amid Middle East distractions, but show no amphibious buildup or escalation signals. Taiwan's bolstered defenses, extended conscription, and U.S. deterrence further reinforce the low-risk assessment, though sudden diplomatic ruptures or leadership shifts could alter odds before year-end.
