Alibaba holds the leading position in trader assessments for the top Chinese AI company by end of June, supported by its rapid succession of Qwen model releases, including the Qwen3.7 series in May and early June 2026, alongside new domestic AI chips and an upgraded cloud platform optimized for agentic workloads. These steps have reinforced its edge in performance benchmarks, infrastructure scale, and integration across enterprise applications. Z.ai follows with notable traction from its GLM-5 and GLM-5.1 releases earlier in the year, trained on alternative hardware, and progress toward public market listings. DeepSeek, Moonshot, and others trail due to strong but less frequent recent model updates and narrower focus areas such as open-source efficiency or long-context capabilities. Ongoing competition centers on benchmark gains and deployment reach within the short resolution window.
