President Trump formally nominated acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to the permanent post on June 8, 2026, sending the nomination to the Senate two days ago after Blanche served in an acting capacity for months. The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to begin confirmation hearings soon, with a floor vote requiring a simple majority. Blanche’s prior confirmation as Deputy Attorney General in March 2025 by a 52-46 margin provides a recent precedent, though recent Senate Republican tensions with the administration could influence the outcome. Traders are watching committee scheduling, any holds or opposition statements, and the overall party-line dynamics in the 119th Congress.
