Incumbent Rep. John Olszewski Jr. (D) anchors trader consensus at 93% for Democrats in Maryland's 2nd Congressional District, a Solid Democratic seat per Cook Political Report with a D+10 partisan voter index reflecting strong historical performance in suburban Baltimore County areas. Olszewski, who breezed to victory in 2024 after filing for reelection in December 2025, faces a Democratic primary challenger in Clint Spellman Jr. ahead of the June 23 primaries, but no recent polling or fundraising surges indicate vulnerability. Recent campaign finance reports from mid-April highlight competitive spending in Maryland congressional races without altering MD-02 dynamics. While national midterm waves or scandals could shift odds, the district's entrenched Democratic lean and incumbency advantage sustain this commanding position.
