OpenAI's GPT-5.5 Pro set a FrontierMath record on April 28, scoring 52% on Tiers 1-3—undergraduate to postdoc math problems vetted by experts—and 40% on research-level Tier 4, solving two previously unsolved problems by mathematicians Hailong Dao and Ahsan Khan. This incremental gain from GPT-5.4's 50%/38% in March underscores OpenAI's compute-intensive chain-of-thought refinements, maintaining dominance over Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 (23% Tier 4) and others amid bending scaling laws. Trader consensus prices 60%+ on Tiers 1-3 at 68% implied probability by June 30, driven by rapid iteration history, but risks include evaluation saturation and delays in GPT-6 previews or safety-aligned releases; monitor Epoch AI leaderboard and OpenAI announcements.
