Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7, released April 16, 2026, has propelled the model's FrontierMath performance to 43.8% on Tiers 1-4—nearly quadrupling prior scores from under 3% at benchmark launch—signaling accelerated gains in advanced mathematical reasoning via enhanced chain-of-thought and tool-use capabilities. This positions Claude statistically close to OpenAI's GPT-5.4 leader at around 47%, amid fierce competition among frontier AI labs chasing breakthroughs on Epoch AI's unpublished, PhD-level problems. Trader sentiment hinges on Claude 5's rumored Q2 rollout, potentially surpassing key thresholds before June 30, though timelines often slip and new evaluations could recalibrate standings.
