Anthropic's release of Claude Opus 4.7 on April 16, 2026—boasting 13% gains on coding benchmarks and enhanced agentic capabilities—has solidified trader consensus around iterative improvements to the Claude 4 family rather than an imminent Claude 5 launch, despite early-year rumors of Sonnet 5 testing in February. This follows a pattern of frequent 4.x updates since Sonnet 4.5 in September 2025, amid fierce competition from OpenAI's GPT-5.5 rollout and Google's Gemini advances, pressuring Anthropic to scale compute via a 5-gigawatt Amazon deal announced April 20. Market-implied odds reflect caution on timelines, with leaks hinting at Claude 5 (potentially branded Mythos for Opus) in Q2-Q3; watch for developer previews or safety reports as key catalysts.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
