Former President Rumen Radev's Progressive Bulgaria coalition won a landslide in Bulgaria's April 19, 2026, snap parliamentary election—the eighth in five years—securing an absolute majority of about 130 seats in the 240-member National Assembly, driving trader consensus to 97% on him as next prime minister. Triggered by prior government collapses amid protests over corruption and budgets, plus failed mandates from parties like GERB-UDF and We Continue the Change, Radev's anti-corruption pledges and pragmatic foreign policy ended the deadlock without coalition negotiations. Formal government formation and swearing-in are pending swift parliamentary votes. Rare disruptions like election challenges, Radev declining the post, or scandals could shift odds, though the margin minimizes such risks.
