Cilia Flores, wife of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, remains in pretrial detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since her January 3, 2026, capture by US forces in Caracas and transport to New York federal court. Facing Southern District of New York charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation, and weapons possession, she and Maduro pleaded not guilty at their January arraignment, with recent setbacks including a March 26 hearing rejecting dismissal motions and April 25 approval for Venezuelan state funds to finance defense after OFAC licensing. No bail granted amid ongoing pretrial disputes over evidence and sanctions; traders monitor for trial dates, plea negotiations, or diplomatic escalations from Caracas demanding release.

If Cilia Flores is released but remains under house arrest, the market will still resolve to "Yes".
If Cilia Flores is released on parole, bond, or any other condition that results in them leaving state custody, the market will resolve to "Yes".
Transporting Cilia Flores to another location of custody (e.g., a different prison, court, or hospital within the correctional system) will not suffice to resolve this market to "Yes".
Temporary outings from prison for purposes such as testifying in court or before Congress, while still under the custody of correctional authorities, will not count as a release.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from government authorities or corrections departments; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
