Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources. As of April 23, 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 1,792 confirmed measles cases in the United States this year, with 93% outbreak-associated across 22 new outbreaks in states including Utah (over 600 cases), South Carolina (recently declared over after 1,000+ cases), and Texas. Hospitalizations stand at 6%, with no deaths, and 92% of cases in unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals amid kindergarten MMR coverage below the 95% herd immunity threshold. Cases have slowed sharply, dropping to seven in the week ending April 19 from peaks over 100 earlier, reflecting containment efforts despite high transmissibility. Traders should watch weekly CDC updates (typically Fridays) through May 31 for rash-onset data that will finalize totals, as travel season poses residual risks in under-vaccinated pockets.
