Health Secretary Wes Streeting is at the center of intense speculation over an imminent resignation to launch a Labour leadership challenge against Prime Minister Keir Starmer, following a brief 16-minute No. 10 meeting today amid party rebellion after poor local election results. Over 60 Labour MPs have called for Starmer's departure, with Streeting's allies signaling a potential announcement as early as tomorrow, though he needs 81 nominations to contest. Persistent NHS pressures, including long waiting lists and strikes after nearly two years in post, fuel cabinet instability talks. Traders eye confirmation of his exit or nomination threshold, as the King's Speech highlights deepening divisions; a swift leadership vote could follow if triggered.
