The New York Mets enter their series against the San Diego Padres with a 28-35 record, fifth in the NL East, while the Padres sit at 33-30, third in the NL West. Recent results show the Mets shutting out San Diego 5-0 on June 5 behind Christian Scott’s 5⅔ scoreless innings and home runs from Jared Young and Luis Torrens, before the Padres responded with a 3-2 win on June 6 powered by Freddy Fermin’s go-ahead homer.
