Fifth-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili, ranked No. 120, enters as the clear trader favorite against local hopeful Sandro Kopp (No. 317) in the Mauthausen Challenger first round on clay, reflecting Basilashvili's superior experience and career-high No. 16 pedigree despite recent clay struggles, including a straight-sets loss to Sebastian Ofner in Madrid qualifying last week and earlier defeats in Bucharest and Monte-Carlo qualifying. Kopp, buoyed by home-crowd support in Austria, shows solid Challenger-level clay form with qualifying wins last week in Shymkent over Damir Zhalgasbay and prior advances in Monza, though losses to higher seeds like Marco Cecchinato highlight vulnerabilities. No injuries reported; mild weather with highs near 68°F poses no delays, leaving stylistic baseline matchup and Basilashvili's power edge as key factors in this debut head-to-head.
