Boston Red Sox host the Houston Astros at Fenway Park in a matchup of struggling AL clubs, with Boston at 12-19 following a stunning firing of manager Alex Cora and several coaches five days ago amid a 10-17 start that drew player backlash. Houston enters at 12-20 off an 11-0 rout of Oakland but carries a depleted rotation including shoulder injuries to Hunter Brown and Cristian Javier, plus oblique strains sidelining Jake Meyers and others. Astros hold a 3-0 head-to-head edge from sweeping Boston in late March, though probable starter Mike Burrows struggles at 1-3 with a 6.25 ERA against a TBD Red Sox hurler amid Garrett Crochet's recent shoulder IL placement. Both bullpens are taxed early season, with Fenway's hitter-friendly confines and home-field edge potentially amplifying volatility.
