Several elite forwards enter the 2026 World Cup in peak club form, creating a tightly bunched field where no single player holds a decisive edge in the trader consensus for most goal contributions. Kylian Mbappé leads on the back of consistent output at Real Madrid and France’s attacking depth, while Harry Kane’s prolific Bayern Munich season and England captaincy role keep him close behind. Erling Haaland’s qualification dominance and Lautaro Martínez’s consistent threat add pressure from below, with emerging talents like Lamine Yamal introducing further variability. Squad depth, schedule congestion, and the inherent unpredictability of knockout-stage minutes distribution sustain this competitive balance across the top group.
