California's 14th Congressional District primary on June 2 occurred in an open seat after Eric Swalwell's April resignation, drawing a crowded field of Democratic candidates alongside limited Republican options in the strongly Democratic East Bay area. State Senator Aisha Wahab secured the California Democratic Party endorsement and leads early returns, while BART board member Melissa Hernandez and others compete for the second advancement spot under the state's top-two primary rules. Early vote counts show Wahab well ahead, with Republican Wendy Huang trailing. A separate special primary on June 16 will fill the remainder of the current term through a potential August runoff.
