Amazon's February 2026 earnings release set the dominant tone for 2026 capex expectations by guiding to approximately $200 billion, more than 50% above the prior year's $131 billion and well ahead of analyst forecasts near $146 billion. The increase centers on AWS data-center buildout, custom silicon, robotics, and low-Earth-orbit satellite infrastructure to meet surging demand for AI training and inference. Through Q1 2026, the company already deployed $43.2 billion in property and equipment, keeping it on pace for the full-year target while compressing free-cash-flow generation. This positions Amazon alongside Google, Microsoft, and Meta in a multi-hundred-billion-dollar AI infrastructure race, with traders closely watching Q2 results and any commentary on energy constraints or project timelines that could alter the trajectory.
