France's Lebrun brothers—Félix and Alexis—drove a dramatic 3-2 group stage victory over Japan on May 3, with Félix toppling Tomokazu Harimoto and both siblings rallying from deficits against Sora Matsushima, underscoring their explosive topspin attacks and resilience. USA advanced as the top second-placed team from Group 14, buoyed by Kanak Jha's proven upset ability (recent win over Hugo Calderano) and squad depth amid lighter group opposition. Lineup choices, fatigue from France's grueling Stage 1a, or Jha exploiting any Lebrun off-day could swing probabilities, amplifying the toss-up nature.
