The New York Yankees (41-27, 2nd in AL East) hold a nine-game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays (34-36) in the standings and enter the three-game series at Rogers Centre with superior overall depth and a rotation anchored by Cam Schlittler (7-3, 1.87 ERA). Schlittler draws the June 13 start opposite Kevin Gausman, giving New York a clear edge on the mound despite the road environment. Toronto snapped the Yankees’ four-game win streak with an 8-5 victory in the opener, fueled by catcher Alejandro Kirk’s productive return from the injured list and early home-run power against Ryan Weathers. Key Blue Jays absences, including Addison Barger’s elbow issue and Daulton Varsho’s wrist concerns, limit lineup flexibility, while the Yankees manage scattered pitching injuries but maintain strong recent form. Traders weigh the Yankees’ talent advantage against Toronto’s home results and the tight divisional race implications.
