The Chicago Cubs (35-34) enter the ongoing series at Oracle Park after defeating the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on June 12 behind Javier Assad’s strong outing and Michael Busch’s three-run homer. The Cubs hold a narrow edge in the NL Central standings while the Giants (28-41) sit near the bottom of the NL West following a recent extra-inning series win at Wrigley Field. Chicago’s pitching staff faces multiple absences, including Jameson Taillon on the 15-day IL with a hamstring issue, while San Francisco has dealt with its own roster challenges. The three-game set features back-to-back home/road matchups between the clubs in under a week, with Oracle Park’s dimensions and recent form shaping the competitive balance.
