Tampa Bay Rays (18-12) host the San Francisco Giants (13-16) at Tropicana Field in the interleague series opener, featuring a marquee lefty matchup between Shane McClanahan (2-2, 3.91 ERA) and Robbie Ray (2-3, 2.70 ERA), who has dominated Rays historically with a 3.09 ERA and 73 strikeouts over nine starts. Rays hold strong early AL East positioning with solid recent form, while Giants grapple with a sub-.500 record amid outfield depth issues from Harrison Bader's hamstring strain (10-day IL, out until May 4) and catcher Daniel Susac's recent placement on the 10-day injured list. Rays bullpen misses Garrett Cleavinger (calf), but home dome advantage and head-to-head parity (Rays 13-11 all-time) keep it competitive ahead of Giants' road test.
