The San Francisco Giants (13-17) face the Tampa Bay Rays (18-12) at Tropicana Field, with left-hander Robbie Ray (2-3, 2.70 ERA in 33.1 IP) starting for the Giants against Rays lefty Shane McClanahan (2-2, 3.91 ERA), highlighting a strong pitching matchup favoring Ray's recent dominance. Rays hold home-field edge in the dome and boast superior overall form, including a 4-1 mark in their last five after dropping Wednesday's finale to Cleveland, while Giants split recent series against Miami and Philadelphia before two losses to the Phillies. Key absences include Giants CF Harrison Bader (hamstring, out until May 4) and several relievers on IL for both sides, with returns possible today for Giants C Daniel Susac and Rays LF Gavin Lux; Rays' bats led by Yandy Díaz (.330 AVG) and Junior Caminero (8 HR) add offensive punch amid a closely contested interleague series opener.
