Shao holds a slight edge in ITTF rankings (around 76th versus Piccolin's 103rd) and leads their lone head-to-head 1-0 from a 2023 WTT Feeder win, but Piccolin's recent resilience—edging close sets before a 2-3 R32 loss to Sutirtha Mukherjee at WTT Contender Tunis in late March, plus a strong team victory for Italy in the ongoing ITTF World Team Championships—fuels the even sentiment. Odds could shift on pre-match warm-ups, fatigue from group stage play, or unconfirmed fitness reports, as both qualifiers thrive in tight contests.
