The Chicago Cubs enter this series at Wrigley Field with a 33-31 record after a sharp downturn, dropping 18-3 to the Giants on June 5 in a game featuring seven San Francisco home runs. Chicago’s recent form includes a 7-18 skid over 25 games, compounded by injuries placing outfielder Matt Shaw on the 10-day IL with a back issue and pitchers Edward Cabrera and Riley Martin on the 15-day IL. The Giants, at 26-38 and last in the NL West, have shown offensive flashes despite their own roster absences, including reliever Matt Gage. Home/away splits, bullpen depth, and starting pitching matchups will shape outcomes in the remaining games of the series.
