The San Francisco Giants' offensive surge defines recent momentum heading into the continuation of their three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. On June 5, San Francisco exploded for seven home runs—including two from Matt Chapman, who drove in eight runs—in an 18-3 rout that followed strong scoring outputs on the road trip. The Giants, currently 26-38 and fourth in the NL West, seek their first four-game winning streak while facing Cubs right-hander Ben Brown. Chicago, at 33-31 and in the NL Central mix, has dealt with inconsistent results and notable injuries including Matt Shaw on the 10-day IL, alongside broader roster challenges. Both clubs carry several players on the injured list that could influence lineup decisions and bullpen usage in the remaining contests.
