The Miami Marlins enter this three-game series at PNC Park with a 33-35 record, sitting fourth in the NL East and 12 games behind division leaders, while the Pirates hold a 34-33 mark and remain within striking distance in the NL Central. Miami’s rotation faces significant strain from multiple injuries, including Eury Pérez and Janson Junk on the 15-day IL plus longer-term absences, forcing reliance on less experienced arms against Pittsburgh’s Braxton Ashcraft. The Pirates benefit from home-field advantage and a stronger home record, though both clubs show middling recent form with Miami riding a four-game win streak into the matchup. Roster health, starting pitching depth, and divisional positioning remain the dominant variables heading into the opener.
