This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026 according to the CDC case counter between January 1, 2026, 12:00 AM ET and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources. As of April 23, 2026, the CDC reports 1,792 confirmed measles cases across 37 U.S. jurisdictions, driven by 22 outbreaks where 93% of cases are linked, primarily among unvaccinated individuals (92% of patients). This surge, surpassing early-year peaks, stems from declining MMR vaccination coverage—kindergarten rates at 92.5% for 2024–2025, below the 95% herd immunity threshold amid pockets under 90% in states like Utah and South Carolina. Weekly cases have slowed recently (7 in the week of April 19 versus 102 in late March), reflecting public health interventions, though high transmissibility (R0 12–18) and travel risks persist. Traders watch weekly CDC surveillance updates and summer travel for shifts; 2025's full-year total was 2,288 cases with 3 deaths.
