The Red Sox, also dealing with starter Garrett Crochet's left shoulder inflammation (out until at least May 18) and outfielder Roman Anthony's recent 10-day IL stint for a right wrist sprain, sit at 17-23 and fifth in the AL East after a 5-5 stretch in their last 10 games. Boston holds a slight edge from winning their 2025 interleague series 2-1, but both clubs' sub-.500 records underscore a tightly contested matchup influenced by pitching health and home-field factors.
