Yankees starter Cam Schlittler boasts a dominant 5-1 record and 1.35 ERA, giving New York a clear pitching edge over Mets opener Clay Holmes (4-3, 1.86 ERA) in this Subway Series opener at Citi Field, where trader consensus implies 58% Yankees win probability despite their 1-4 skid in the last five games against Baltimore and Milwaukee. The Yankees sit at 27-17, second in the AL East, with Aaron Judge's 16 homers and Ben Rice's .303 average fueling a stronger offense (3.22 team ERA) than the injury-plagued Mets (18-25, 11.5 games back in NL East), who swept Detroit recently but miss Jorge Polanco and face ongoing roster woes including Giancarlo Stanton's absence for New York. Mild 66-degree weather favors play.
