Denis Shapovalov and Fabian Marozsan advanced to the BMW Open round of 16 with momentum-boosting first-round wins on Munich's outdoor clay: Shapovalov rallied past eighth seed Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, while Marozsan upset Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4, saving a match point after a darkness suspension. In their first ATP head-to-head, No. 39 Shapovalov's explosive lefty serve faces No. 42 Marozsan's consistent baseline play, with the Hungarian holding a stronger 2026 clay record amid both players' middling seasons (Shapovalov 7-8 overall, Marozsan 10-10). No injuries noted; trader consensus reflects a closely contested matchup hinging on serve holds and rally endurance.
