In the Wuxi Challenger semifinals on outdoor hard courts, No. 6 seed Mark Lajal (#158) meets experienced Soonwoo Kwon (#252) in their first head-to-head matchup. Lajal, the 22-year-old Estonian standing 191cm, endured a marathon three-tiebreak thriller over Mikhail Kukushkin in the round of 16 before straight-sets quarterfinal win over top seed Dane Sweeny 7-5, 6-3 on Friday, testing his stamina. Kwon, riding a stellar 19-3 season record (17-3 on hard), dominated early rounds with bagels against Kaichi Uchida before grinding out a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 QF over Akira Santillan. Kwon's baseline prowess and recent form contrast Lajal's powerful serve, with both dropping one set en route amid no reported injuries.
