No. 15 seed Karen Khachanov, ranked World No. 15, holds a decided edge over No. 85 Aleksandr Shevchenko in their Internazionali BNL d'Italia Round of 64 clay-court clash, bolstered by a 2-1 head-to-head advantage including straight-sets triumphs in Dubai 2026 and Rome 2024. Shevchenko carries momentum from a grueling first-round survival against Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5)) in nearly three hours, potentially taxing after recent clay struggles like early exits in Monte-Carlo and Madrid. Khachanov benefits from a bye and superior experience at Masters 1000 events, despite YTD records of 8-10 for both; his powerful baseline game suits Foro Italico conditions, while Shevchenko's upset potential hinges on endurance and prior clay resilience. No reported injuries affect availability.
