Rinky Hijikata enters the Stuttgart Open grass-court match against Tom Gentzsch as the higher-ranked player at approximately No. 98, bringing greater ATP-level experience and recent competitive play including strong results in the Birmingham Challenger. Gentzsch, ranked around No. 228, benefits from home-country support in Germany and has shown solid qualifying form but faces a significant step up in competition level on this surface. Grass favors big serves and quick points, areas where Hijikata’s established game typically holds an edge over the lower-ranked German’s current trajectory. No prior head-to-head exists between the two, and no reported injuries or withdrawals alter the field. The outcome hinges on how effectively Gentzsch adapts his game to the faster conditions against a player with proven grass-court pedigree.
