Alejandro Davidovich Fokina enters the Stuttgart Open first-round matchup against Mattia Bellucci as the higher-ranked and seeded player on grass, where his experience and consistency give him an edge in a surface that rewards clean ball-striking and movement. Davidovich Fokina has recovered from an earlier abdominal injury that sidelined him from several spring events, showing solid form on clay in Madrid before shifting to grass. Bellucci, ranked outside the top 70, defeated Davidovich Fokina in straight sets on hard courts in Acapulco earlier this year but enters with a modest 2026 win-loss record and limited grass-court history. The Italian's left-handed game and recent hard-court results offer upset potential, though the grass transition and Davidovich Fokina's higher baseline level shape trader expectations around experience and recent fitness.
