Second seed Alexander Zverev, a two-time Mutua Madrid Open champion with strong clay-court form including a straight-sets quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli, faces 21-year-old Belgian qualifier Alexander Blockx in the ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals on clay. Blockx, ranked around No. 69, has surged into his maiden Masters semi-final via stunning upsets, including a 6-4, 6-4 dismissal of defending champion Casper Ruud yesterday—his first ATP-level clay wins prior to this event. The pair meet for the first time, with Zverev's superior rankings, head-to-head edge in experience, and high-altitude Madrid history contrasting Blockx's momentum and fearless play amid no reported injuries. Trader consensus reflects Zverev's baseline reliability against the underdog's upset potential.
