Kayla Day enters the Lexus Ilkley Open grass-court matchup against Mary Stoiana with a 3-0 head-to-head edge, most recently defeating her 6-3, 6-1 on clay in April. Day holds a stronger 2026 singles record at 26-7 compared with Stoiana’s 22-13, and both players sit near the 145-146 ranking range. The all-grass setting favors players with effective serving and quick adaptation, areas where both have limited recent exposure, though Stoiana posted a 1-0 grass mark and Day stands at 1-1. Their status as doubles partners adds familiarity that could influence baseline rallies and net approaches. Recent momentum favors Day’s consistency across surfaces, while Stoiana seeks to leverage her youth and aggressive style on the faster courts.
