Susan Bandecchi enters the WTA 125 Figueira da Foz first-round matchup on outdoor hard courts as the clear favorite, reflecting her current singles ranking near 171 and stronger 2026 singles activity compared with veteran Vera Zvonareva. Bandecchi reached the Roland Garros main draw earlier this month after strong qualifying wins and posted a competitive second-round loss to Daria Kasatkina, showing solid recent form on clay that should translate to hard. Zvonareva, 41, has focused primarily on doubles (current ranking around 24) with a modest 10-8 singles record this season and limited recent main-draw success. Surface preference and age-related recovery factors further tilt consensus toward the Swiss player, though Zvonareva’s extensive experience could produce competitive sets if she finds early rhythm. No reported injuries or withdrawals alter the field.
