Both teams enter the interleague series at Daikin Park below .500, with the Detroit Tigers at 29-42 in the AL Central and the Houston Astros at 33-39 in the AL West. Astros home-field advantage pairs with recent power output from Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker, though Houston manages its own injury list and bullpen adjustments. Detroit has generated offensive momentum, highlighted by a recent 11-0 shutout featuring six home runs, but faces uncertainty from starter Jack Flaherty’s leg issue, Casey Mize’s placement on the injured list, and roster tweaks. Pitching matchups, including potential Astros returns like Hunter Brown, and bullpen reliability figure to shape outcomes amid scattered thunderstorm risks.
