Jesper de Jong, the higher-ranked Dutch player at around world No. 109, takes on Canadian Liam Draxl in the second round of Roland Garros qualifying on outdoor red clay. De Jong advanced by defeating Fajing Sun in a tight two-set match and showed solid recent form on the surface with a strong run through Rome qualifiers earlier in May. Draxl reached this stage after a three-set victory over Ilia Simakin and brings momentum from a season that included multiple Challenger finals. Their only prior meeting came on hard courts in early 2025, where Draxl prevailed, but the shift to clay favors De Jong’s baseline consistency and movement. Both players are seeking main-draw entry, with rest, clay-court adaptation, and recent match volume likely to shape the outcome in this best-of-three encounter.
