Hailey Baptiste's stunning quarterfinal upset over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka—saving six match points for her career-best win—has propelled the No. 32-ranked American into her first WTA 1000 semifinal at the Mutua Madrid Open, showcasing breakout clay form amid a tournament rife with upsets. Facing ninth-seeded Mirra Andreeva, who leads the tour in 2026 clay wins after ousting Leylah Fernandez, traders weigh Baptiste's momentum against Andreeva's superior ranking, experience, and 1-0 head-to-head lead from their 2025 Wimbledon encounter. On high-altitude clay at La Caja Magica favoring aggressive baseline rallies, no reported injuries or withdrawals loom, though Andreeva's consistency tempers Baptiste's underdog surge in this closely contested matchup.
