The Cleveland Guardians hold a 2-0 series lead over the Detroit Tigers entering the postponed June 14 finale at Progressive Field, with Cleveland sitting near the AL Central lead at 39-33 while Detroit lingers at 29-42. Recent wins featured strong outings from Joey Cantillo and Daniel Schneemann’s two-run homer, though the Guardians absorbed a major blow when star third baseman José Ramírez suffered a fractured hamate bone and landed on the injured list. Tarik Skubal’s return from elbow surgery yielded mixed results for Detroit in the 3-1 loss. Pitching depth, including Tanner Bibee’s history against the Tigers and Gavin Williams’ form, has bolstered Cleveland’s edge, while the Tigers continue to battle inconsistent offense and bullpen reliability in divisional play. The makeup doubleheader is slated for September.
