Marcos Giron, seeded eighth and ranked No. 76, holds a slight edge over No. 97 Aleksandar Kovacevic in their second-round Cagliari Challenger matchup on outdoor clay, buoyed by a 1-0 head-to-head win on hard courts at Indian Wells in 2023. Giron advanced convincingly yesterday with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of No. 89 Aleksandar Vukic, while Kovacevic survived qualifier Luca Potenza 6-3, 7-6(7). Neither thrives on clay—Kovacevic's career ATP clay mark is 3-13, Giron's 20-30—highlighting a stylistic battle of baseline grinders with Giron's superior recent form (8-7 YTD) versus Kovacevic's 8-10. No injury concerns reported; expect a competitive best-of-three sets affair influenced by fatigue from prior rounds and variable clay conditions.
