Tamara Zidanšek enters the opening round of the 2026 Memorial Eugenio Fontana WTA 125 event in Modena as the clear favorite on outdoor clay, holding a substantial ranking edge at No. 134 against Federica Urgesi, a young Italian wildcard ranked well outside the top 300. Zidanšek arrives with consistent 2026 results, including multiple clay wins and a career history of deep runs on the surface that aligns with her baseline-heavy game. Urgesi has posted strong ITF-level results recently, including straight-set victories in Caserta, but faces a significant step up in competition depth and experience against a player with Grand Slam semifinal pedigree. The clay conditions and home-crowd factor for the Italian represent the primary variables that could narrow the gap, though Zidanšek’s superior recent form and head-to-head absence favor her in trader consensus for advancement.
