Elena Rybakina, world No. 2, holds a commanding 3-1 head-to-head lead over Qinwen Zheng, including a recent Doha straight-sets win this year, fueling trader consensus toward her favored status ahead of their Madrid Open third-round clash on clay—their first meeting on the surface. Rybakina's exceptional 2026 form (26 wins entering) underscores her baseline power and serve dominance, though she's endured gritty comebacks in prior rounds. Zheng, Olympic singles gold medalist and No. 32 seed, rallied from a set down to defeat Sofia Kenin 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 two days ago, showcasing clay-suited aggression and resilience. High-altitude conditions at Manolo Santana Stadium amplify serve volatility, with no reported injuries altering lineups.
