Donna Vekic, ranked No. 66 with a 14-10 record in 2026, holds a clear edge over No. 126 Leolia Jeanjean (6-10 YTD) in their first-round Madrid Open qualifying clash on outdoor clay, where Vekic's powerful baseline game and recent Charleston green-clay comeback wins signal adapting form despite historical preferences for faster surfaces. Jeanjean, a clay-native French player with a modest 9-10 career WTA clay mark, enters off a loss to Darja Semenistaja in Oeiras and lacks deep qualifier experience against top-100 foes. No head-to-head exists; trader consensus likely weighs Vekic's ranking, serve dominance, and WTA pedigree against Jeanjean's potential for defensive grinding in best-of-three sets, with standard Madrid conditions and no injury concerns reported.
